2011 Land Rover Range Rover Sport

The 2011 Land Rover Range Rover Sport ranks 14 out of 17 Luxury Midsize SUVs. This ranking is based on our analysis of 69 published reviews and test drives of the Land Rover Range Rover Sport, and our analysis of reliability and safety data.

Reviewers say that the 2011 Land Rover Range Rover Sport offers a great combination of off-road capability and on-road handling and adds an interior that’s pure luxury.

The 2011 Land Rover Range Rover Sport borrows components from a few other models in Land Rover’s stable. It shares the two engines with the Range Rover, but it’s built on the same platform as the Land Rover LR4

The Range Rover Sport also combines Land Rover’s famous off-roading abilities with sportier, pavement-tuned handling. Its shorter body and lower ground clearance means that it doesn’t have quite the same boulder-crushing, billy-goat capabilities that the LR4 or the Range Rover have. However, reviewers are impressed with the Range Rover Sport’s on-road handling, especially with its lack of body lean in the corners. It does reflect the Land Rover name in its interior quality and features, though. The Range Rover Sport comes standard with a long list of high-tech gadgets and luxurious materials consistent with its $60,495 price tag and with other luxury large SUVs, like push-button start and memory functions for the driver’s seat and side-view mirrors.

Unfortunately, one of the Range Rover Sport’s only drawbacks comes from its Land Rover parent as well. Historically, Land Rover has had a poor reputation for reliability. Though the company was recently bought by Tata Motors, who pledged to improve quality, reviewers have yet to decide whether or not this strategy has worked.
